Within the international network “Junior Achievement – Young Enterprise Europe” students aged between 15 and 19 get the chance to start up real companies for the duration of a school year. They offer self-developed products and services on the real market. Students independently develop their own business idea and go through all phases of a real economic project (JA-Austria, 2016).
Description of the Best Practice Example:
Students of the Secondary School for Economic Professions (Pannoneum Neusiedl am See) established the Junior Company Pannonia Paradise within the framework. The students produced tomato sauces and chutneys out of non-used vegetables (misfits) and herbs. The ingredients (e.g. tomatoes, red onions, herbs) were provided by local farmers from Neusiedl am See. The required jars were collected by friends. Steaming devices were used to conservate tomato sauces without the need of any preservatives. In addition, recipes were collected and summarised in a small cookbook. Through their hard work they were able to save up to 400 kg of tomatoes from going to waste. Besides that they also supported a children's village with a part of their products (VWG Burgenland, 2016).

Description of the Best Practice Example:
Hallormsstaðaskóli is an Icelandic educational institution located in Egilstaðir. The school focuses on sustainability and creation, with the aim of self-sustainability. The school provides a platform for people 18 years+ to become sustainable creators of their own lives by teaching students how to utilize nature for their food, energy, medicine, clothing, housing and other requirements. Their ideology rest on the belief that the global economy is an unsustainable system and aim to equip students to become free of the systems constraints and in that way being able to chose when they take part in the global system, and when they do not. Their believe is that we cannot achieve sustainability in our own lives until we free ourselves from the dependency on the system by re-learning what our ancestors all knew before us – how to live of nature’s bounty.
